Pit-Bulls...! "Cat-Killers..." Are they...? *

Today I had a chance to meet with some people where the subject of "Pit-Bulls" was raised. As a person who loves dogs and really cares for animals in general, I am so frustrated that so many people are buying into the "Big Lie" - whether it be this, that, or another, which in this case is the much maligned Pit-Bull. Perhaps it is the combination of words of Pit and Bull which makes that name sound so ominous? Whatever the case, there is no question that those words engender a great deal of undeserved fear in some people. Then there are those who really do not know any thing about dogs at all, but who just want to spout off, by perpetuating a fear of a gentle dog.

During the Middle Ages and medieval times when abuse and cruelty was rampantly the norm of the day, and depraved elitist royalty and their cronies had nothing better to do but to collect taxes and oppress serf's: One bored-lame-brained-inbred-royal-numbskull (his name, lost in the time stream of antiquity), decided to dig a PIT in his castle's court yard. He put into that PIT his much abused starved TERRIER along with some rats which were abundant at his castle. He wanted to see how fast and how many rats his terrier could kill and eat. Betting on that cruel sport which resembled bull-fighting, those Royal A.H's (Assinine Hominids), added insult to that proverbial injury - to that dog: They dubbed the dog a "bull-in-the-pit". Hence... a "PIT-BULL".

That just awful and misleading misnomer, has stuck and inured to this gentle and loyal animal till today. Weak and feeble brained imitation human clones, of the same deficient mentality as those in the previous paragraph, who can't stand alone on their own "humanity", pounce on that vicious lie to draw strength from it, hoping to appear important. They mercilessly perpetuate that lie about these dogs, who as a result, suffer horrible abuse and death everyday at the hands of the same hard - hearted humans, whom these dogs have given their loyalty to.

If there is a "hell", it is not "PIT-BULLS" that will be found in that "place of torment" - only humans!

"What I Happily Learned About These Amazing Dogs"

As a former operations director at an animal shelter, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience with cats and dogs. I know mutts, big dogs, small dogs, old dogs, and even Pit Bulls. Or at least i thought I knew about pit Bulls. Until I fostered a Pit Bull and spent some time with the education and rescue group BAD RAP (Bay Area Dog Lovers Responsible About Pit Bulls), I didn't truly understand the breed nor the issues of prejudice and discrimination that surrounds them.

I had been visiting other shelters for years, so I knew there was a massive overpopulation of Pit Bulls. What I didn't know was that many of these dogs languishing in shelters were amazing, adoptable, loyal family pets. Just like the adopters who passed them by, I couldn't look past their reputation, their scars and their big heads to see the individual dog hidden behind the image. I thought I was open-minded, educated and able to tell the difference between a dog with problems and a good adoption candidate, but i was wrong. With so many things.

WHAT BSL IS:  It is the systematic eradication of all so-called "Bully Breed" dogs... Globally... It is nothing less than the killing of millions of dogs, which can only be termed tantamount to blatant and MONSTROUS genocide on a scale never before seen in this world, or another planet in our Universe. I say that because I can not conceive any thought that there are creatures elsewhere in the universe, who would be capable of doing such a horrible thing to other living creatures. Only in the depraved minds of humanity is where such evil can spawn. Only they can and are capable of conceiving such an idea which has no sense or purpose - other than for some to gain political power. It is my thought that the total wiping out of some targeted species of animals into oblivion, leaves the plane of reason. Any genocidal plan accomplished in man's history anytime - pales in to a diminutive insignificance: Is our collective human conscience so desensitized: Today dogs.., tomorrow people... And after that - What next...? No more Democracy! Than... Soilent Green..?

"Breed Specific Legislation" is prejudicial, it's a hate crime against all humanity, it's wrong! We humans created those dogs, we bred them into existence... Now, we're told to detroy them all?

The effects of this act surely will be that our humanity will be diminished - but that is not the least of it... Lawmakers and legislators, beware...! You are fooling with Mother Nature...! And that will not be allowed. I am not sure what, but there is a higher power in this Universe... WATCHING.

POST SCRIPTUM: Oh...! And incidentally - by the way: High paid Christian Preachers... What are you doing about all these going-ons...? Joyce Meyer, John Hagee, you talk much... SO SPEAK!

As to BSL: As we understand Peta's position to be on this matter, based on humane reasons, we would agree with them regarding Pit Bulls... But only up to a point. Without any mental reservation at all, we hold each and every individual, agency, organization, and whoever and whatever else who cares for the animals on our planet, in the highest regard.

Peta has our much deserved gratitude and appreciation for the difficult and heart wrenching job that they do to help our animals - which preserves our humanity. That does not mean however that we do not take a different view on some things concerning these matters. As to that, we will continue to favorably mention their name on our web-site or elsewhere as long as allowed.

Our position is that as many hundreds of thousands of PIT BULLS are being tormented, and in many cruel ways treated, now is NOT the time to take a gentle approach to this situation. Time is now to aggressively - but within the bounds of common decency - to take an active stand against what is going on. Our feelings are clearly stated in the previous paragraph.

The STAND UNITED folks feel that we should in an extreme gingerly way deal with the problem.

Peta feels that since Pit Bulls are horribly mistreated and hence will bite us as a result of that horrendous treatment, we should go along with the powers at be, and allow the destruction of that breed. Hence, breed them all out of existence - when there is evidence to the contrary.

SUMMATION: We treat Pit Bulls torturously. They react. Now we should destroy them... Hmmm..?

What is being suggested is that it is o.k. to subject living creatures to unbridled horrendous acts and torturous treatment, but... they better not react in SELF-DEFENSE of their life or survival.

What kind of ALL-OR-NOTHING logic is that...! Throw out the dishes with the dishwater...?

Shoot to kill anything you don't understand...? If it is different, it must be bad...! Etc.

ABOUT THE NATURE OF UNFOUNDED MALICIOUS ALLEGATIONS

When you walk through your life -Tread ever so careful:

Has a "trusted friend" or a person you know ever told you a nasty story about someone else...? What was your reaction? Did you INTENTLY listen to the UNFOUNDED story that you DO NOT KNOW anything about, or did you say to yourself: "Does the story have the ring of truth to it" - "Because I was not there, am I being given all of the facts...", "Why is this person telling me this information that I did not ask for?" Of perhaps did you think that very possibly and just maybe..."What I am being told COULD BE A LIE TOLD TO ME for some vicious alternative reason by "my friend...?" - "Maybe this is just untrue and plain GOSSIP...!"

Did you stop - think - and ask yourself: "Should I not ask the person being gossiped about if what I am being told about him or her is really true and not taken out of context?"

So who am I...?   I am Mean Spirited Gossssssip...

I have absolutely no respect for justice. I indiscriminately maim without killing. I gladly break hearts and delight in ruining lives. Besides all this... I am very cunning and malicious and gather much strength with age as fools listen to me. The more I am quoted the more I am believed. I am nobody's friend!

I flourish at every level of society. My victims are totally helpless; they cannnot protect themselves against me because I have no name and no face. To track me down is impossible...! The harder a person tries, the more elusive I become. Once I tarnish someone's reputation, it is never the same.

As fools listen and repeat me, it becomes easy for me to topple governments, destroy successful careers and totally devastate loving marriages. My forte is to tear down lifelong friendships. After this, I take pleasure in ruining the life of the fool who perpetuated me in the first place, because I'm nobody's friend.

Because of foolish rumormongers, I have caused innocent people many sleepless nights, indigestion, and experience unjust heartaches and headaches. I generate painful grief by spawning unfounded suspicion. I come in many forms as I make the headlines and cause innocent people to cry in their pillows.

Listen carefully:  "EVEN MY NAME HISSSSSSSSSSSES..."

A person repeated a bit of gossip about a neighbor:

Within a few days the whole community knew the story. The victim of the gossip was deeply hurt by what had been done. Later, the person who had spread the rumor learned that the story was completely untrue. Being sorry, the person went to a wise old Sage [*] to find out what could be done to repair the damage. "Go to the marketplace," he said, "purchase a chicken, and have it killed. On your way home, pluck its feathers and drop them one by one on the road." Surprised by this advice, the person followed the instructions.

The next day the Safe said: "Now, go and collect all those feathers you dropped yesterday and brgin them to me." Following the same road, dismayingly, the wind had blown most of the feathers away. After searching for hours, the "Gossip" returned to the Sage with only three feathers. "You see," said the wise old Sage, "It's easy to drop them, but it is impossible to get them back." So it is with gossip. It is easy to spread sadistic innuendo and cruel rumor, but once you do, you can never completely undo the wrong.

So just think about this: Before you listen to gossip...or repeat a story..ask yourself: "Is the story I am being told true? What is the real motive of the person telling me the unfounded story? In the very least ask yourself: Is it even necessary for me to retell the story I am being told by my friend, or is this just 'gossip' not worth repeating!" In any case, say to the person passing on to you some gossip: "This seems importnat to you! LET'S BOTH GO and chat with the person you are talking about to get all the facts. The reaction you get back WILL TELL YOU if what is being told to you TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT, is the truth or just gossip.
