The Dog Blog...
THE PURPOSE OF THIS ANIMAL RIGHTS BLOG: Some of my well-meaning acquaintances and friends advised against my plans to post information about animal rights issues on a business web site. They suggested that unconstructive aspects could happen. Based on their concerns, I browsed the www and indeed found that other and similar sites had gotten negative comments, and in one case, even "hate-mail" from some who do not like animals - in particular, dogs.
What outweighs that consideration, is the fact that not a day passes by where I don't see a news article about the horrors inflicted on animals, and the rampant abuse of dogs, cats, horses, and the cruel way cattle is slaughtered. These vivid pictures of abuse and neglect is brought to us by the News Media. Supporting that information channel, and as it is, everyday, tens of thousands in this country, and perhaps hundreds of thousands of animals worldwide, suffer. Animals dying by human deliberation, are suffering needless neglect and pain at the hands of people.
My decision to go ahead with a Blog and these pages, against advice to not mix my compassion for animals with my business, may well elicit consequences. As to that, my view on business is that: It is a lie told by some who are in business, to justify their dishonest business practices, to claim that "... business is business", and that "The end of 'making money' justifies any means." This understanding makes me want to say "Thanks" to all who care for our animals.
So here it is - A philosophical stand on these issues of a life long dog and cat owner - ME!
