  A DOG'S PLEA

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.  Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I might lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.  Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when the sound of your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.  Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements.  I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.  Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.  Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.  And, my friend, when I am very old and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going.  I am not having any fun.  Please see to it that my life is taken gently.  I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

The 12 Commandments

The first thing "bible scholars" and "lay-people" say to me when I talk with them about "animal rights" is, that "animals don't have any rights - it says so in the Bible". That attitude is so very sad because they are so very wrong.

Because of that prevailing attitude especially from Christians, dogs, cats, and just about all animals [creatures of God], continue to horribly suffer at the hands of human kind.

Some time ago in Petaluma, CA., a "Christian" minister proudly showed off a dog tettered with a 6 foot leash in her back-yard 24/7 in violation of new and more humane leash laws in CA & TX. More importantly, what she was doing was against several of God's laws.

The first thing I would say to all preachers and their churches - "change your message" to get in accord with God's law. Next I would tell them to learn what God really wants from them - as God GAVE animals their RIGHTS.

Check this out... In the Garden of Eden before Adam & Eve "sinned" (fell short of God's Glory), and while still in a state of "human perfection", Adam was personally given by God only TWO directives (commandments). Because of his perfection, none other was needed. It was not until 3,000 years later in man's history that he was given the next set of 10 Commandments. That next set of directives dealt specifically with man and woman-kind's sinful nature.

So..., dealing with a pefect man and woman in a perfect world, God only dealt with them in the perfect way that He could. The FIRST law that God gave Adam (First Commandment) was "to take care of the Earth. The SECOND law (over everything else) that God gave Adam was (and this is the biggie), "NAME AND TAKE CARE OF THE ANIMALS UNDER YOUR DOMINION".

These two very highest priority laws were given to mankind while he was still unqualified, in a state of God's favor. These two directives were never revoked by God and yet, churches teach only the last Ten Commandments which deal only with mans evils, sins, shortcomings, and other abject behaviors: Which is easier to deal with to get money  - than addressing suffering, pain, and inhumane treatment of animals.

As they do that, those people totally ignore and fail to put the proper and correct emphasis on God's much higher laws about the EARTH and ANIMALS. Because of this deliberately dismal failure by preachers and their churches to obey God's Directives, our planet earth and animals continue to suffer cruelly because of ignorance and their blatantly foolish wanton GREED for more money and personal prestige.

GET YOUR PREACHER to talk about animals instead of passing another collection plate. Or, and better yet, demand that your "pastor" pass the collection plate for the just advancement of animal rights...! See what shallow minded and argumentatatative (*) objections he..., or even she ..., will nervously smiling, come up with.

Much of my adult life (about 2 decades), I have worked with animals, particularly dogs. Most of them volunteer animal rescue agencies. While there, I came to know Pit-Bulls really well. One behavior I want to discuss in hopes that some will understand. Often misinterpreted as being "aggressive", Pit-Bulls at times perform an odd dance [what I call it]. They run around, stop and act as If they are stalking prey. After many such observances, I've come to realize that what the Pit-Bull is doing, is: It's playing with imaginary friends. Much like human children play with an imaginary friend - as parents know. It keeps it -self occupied by doing that. And THAT is what some people mistake for aggressiveness.

And that is too bad as Pit-Bulls are really loyal, fun to be with, play with, and to have around.

1.  WHAT ARE SOME OF THE WORST ABUSES AGAINST ANIMALS TODAY.

Some of them are:  Puppy mills, animal fighting and inhumane practices such as so-called "canned hunts." There are more than 1000 places in these United States where, for a fee, you can shoot a [helpless] exotic animal, like a giraffe or a lion, in enclosed areas at point-blank range.  These places have guaranteed-kill policies, which means that you don't have to pay if you don't kill an animal. 2.  WHAT IS THE HUMANE SOCIETY DOING ABOUT THESE PRACTICES?

According to CEO Wayne Pacelle of the United States Humane Society while at an interview with Parade Magazine on March 9, '08, by contributor Daryl Chen. "We are lobbying for legislation in the states to end (cruel practices against animals)."  Wayne states that lobbying is the main ways the Society works to achieve change.  In 2007, we helped get 86 laws passed in various states prohibiting activities like cockfighting and horse slaughter.  (Paraphrased).

3.  ARE THERE STEPS PEOPLE CAN TAKE TO END ANIMAL CRUELTY?

Wayne states that people can begin by being responsible caretakers of their pets.  Have them spayed and neutered, and take them to the vet regularly.  Also, he says, all citizens can be advocates for animal-related reforms on state and national levels and their community.

Note: Find out what your legislators are doing about animal rights - and about the animal cruelties in the U.S.  If he or she's doing nothing, let them know you will not vote for them - and tell others.

   PERSONALLY I WOULD SAY: Tell the bums what they are doing is wrong. If they do not genuinely do something about the plight of animals, vote them all out of office... As such...

Speaking Out For 

       Dog Behaviors

Several years ago I observed someone who resembled a human male - but of which to this date, I can't be sure. With him, was a medium sized dog. While in the house, from the dogs behaviors I'm sure that it had to Pee Really Bad. As it was, after perhaps a day or longer, the dog could not hold it any more - and it peed and relieved itself in the house.

Instantly, and without any hesitation at all, the man kicked the dog, yelled at it harshly, slapped it a few times on the head, and tossed it outside the house, all the while telling me what a "stinking dog it was". When I explained that the dogs' behaviors told me hours ago that it had to pee, he told me it was not any of my business - Than kicked me out.

I think that he enjoyed abusing, hurting, and taking his frustrative aggressions, as any coward, out on a helpless dog. Is this you? Do you do things like that?

Today, I witnessed a young 7 year old boy yell at some neighbor's dogs who had been barking for several weeks, "to shut up and be quiet"! The boy yelled at the dogs only after his mother had said something. Parroting her, the little boy did the same thing. Facts are, the dogs are being severely abused in several ways, but I've been told  "It's not enough for the animal control authorities to get involved". [They will "get involved" when the dogs are dead - I suppose]. Is this you? Are you teaching your children to abuse dogs and other animals?

Fact is: Dogs are just like babies. They can not speak. And like human babies who can only cry, all they can do is bark when cold, hungry and in pain. People interpret their cries as "annoyance" and "remove their barker surgically", [make them mute]. Then people yell, kick, and beat, or do worse things to the beautiful helpless and innocent dogs (and cats). Do you do this to your animals, or do you respond and answer their needs?
