These are some of our animal rescues and what we continue to do to help...

About Mid-Summer of 2007 we rescued a 6 or 7 week old pit bull puppy. That incident was listed on Craig's List. Recently I tried to locate the story on that list but could not find it... Was it deleted? We don't know... If anyone knows where that story can be found or is located, let us know. Thanks. E-mail
Anyway, the circumstances surrounding that incident was that we were at a flea-market and a woman vendor in a pickup truck was selling that puppy. Her kids were handling it roughly.
Because ot that rough treatment its left leg had pulled out of its socket. Obviously, the pup was in great pain. Right away we went to the booth and put down $20.00. Over her complaint that it was "not enough" and she wanted more money, about 6 very concerned people there, took the dog anyway.
Immediately afterward, another woman in that group agreed to take the dog - we took the dog to a veterinarian - for that service, and paid him $255.00. We also bought in the neighborhood of one month supply of puppy food, leash, and other things totaling about $ 100.00.
RESCUING ANIMALS IS NOT CHEAP! IT'S AN ON-GOING RESPONSIBILITY...!

Fortunately for this doggie, we could rescue it and RETURN IT to its negligent owners. 4/08.
Often we've heard people say "don't feed the stray cats". To that I simply say Hog-wash... But I do understand the logic behind that.
For many years we've been putting out a plate of dry dogfood on our patio - the kind that cats happen to like. Sometimes it is food from our dogs and cat that they hadn't eaten the day before because daily, we give our animals fresh food. Every morning, most of that food is gone indicating that an animal had been fed be it cats, dogs, or even a raccoon or two. It doesn't matter, as even a couple of Blue-Jays come by during the day - everyday - and help themselves to that food. We have also seen some cats abandoned by people that moved away eating that food daily. Cost about $ 20.00 monthly.

Our cat on the resources page came to us as a kitten freely, as she chose us. She originally belonged to a family a street down from us. They ignored her and did not feed her. This kitten one day walked up to our open front door. Pausing a few seconds, walked right past our two pit-bulls who were snoozing in front of the door. The kitten went to the dog bowls and helped herself to food and water... She's still here with us. She is the kitten snoozing with our pit bull on another page on this site... "Home Shield"

This little tyke we found running down the Free Way... With hundreds of cars during rush-hour zooming by a mere few feet away, shudders to think what suffering this tyke could have been subjected to. We risked our life protecting it by grabbing it out of harms way. In a "safe home" now with proper licensing and care, chances are that this doggie will enjoy a long, safe, life.
Talking about rescuing animals "NOT BEING CHEAP", one of our dogs on the resources page, was so horribly abused that by the time she came to us, and up till today, she has cost over $2,000,00 to keep her going. As recently as a few days ago we've had to pay $ 330.00, $ 102.00, and $ 187.00 respectively, within 3 weeks because of, and as a result of the damage and injuries she has suffered at the hands of immitation "humans".
Our "animal rescue" service began just about 15 years ago at a time when we volunteered - although we've always had an interest in and love for dogs and cats. One day, we were led to rescue a Rottweiler unintentionally. Perhaps it was because prior to this time, we have had two Rottweilers for twelve years that we had purchased from a reputable breeder.
One day, some kids from the neighborhood who had seen us with our Rottweilers, brought us a very thin male rottie in obvious need of care. At that time I knew a woman who had just lost her rottie during a divorce. She begged me for the rottie. I let her take the dog as long as she would agree to care for it properly. As it turns out this rottie had parvo, subsequently abandoned by its owners to fend for itself on the streets, and to die a horrible and lonely lingering death.
End of this story is, it cost that woman around $ 3,000.00 to save this Rottweilers life and end its suffering, simply by caring.
Sometines our rescues cost us emotionally - not $$$.

It seems for us, that one rescue leads to another, another, and another... And then there was this dog who made us both cry when we rescued it, saved it's life, and more importantly, were able to find a superb home for it where, after years, it's loved...

Have you ever seen a dog who has been beaten severely by "people" who claim to be "human", until the dog does what is NOT in the dog's nature, to fight until one of the dogs dies?
That is a sight of horrific stuff that nightmares are made of...
Wolves and dogs by nature don't ever fight to the death...! The loser in a dog fight will turn its vulnerable belly to the winner, who instinctively ceases its attack on the other wolf or dog.
Have you ever seen an "Honorable Judge" presiding over an animal abuse case ever so gingerly admonish (so as not to offend) the defendants - "Don't do that again", and with a $100.00 fine to cover the burial cost of the dead dogs, lets them go torture and kill more dogs and earn another $5,000.00?
Such abhorrent judicial practices SHOULD bring on nightmares...

P.S. Hey Judges! It's been said (and I'm not sure of course), that "Jesus will be back to judge" us. If and when he does, I'll be there, so will you... Do you think He will let you off with a mere $100.00 fine for allowing torturous maltreatment and killing of His dogs..?

Hey! Bill...............!!!
What are you doing maligning Pit-Bulls? Needless to say you are entitled to your opinions... But you are wrong in saying what you did over the air about these dogs. You may even have given fuel to more of these dogs being killed after horrible torturous treatment. I just can't believe that is what you want.
Do you really know what you are talking about? I don't think so, and millions of us dog-lovers who watch your show, do not think so either when you say things like "sicking a pit-bull puppy on..." (even as a joke) someone.
That is not cool Bill. You may get better results "sicking" your Mother-in-Law or even the Pope on (who was that again) some mayor I believe..., than a gentle Pit Bull. You did that dastardly deed on or about February - March 2008.
I'm a many years watching you fan (?) Consider retracting that statement...

Dog Hating Companies:
This company under BOASTS that "We have never lost a law-suit...", continues to deny disabled persons with service dogs entry into their facility.
One way that MIGLEY'S FLEA-MARKET in Sebastopol, Sonoma County, Calif. does this is, stoop very low to lie about service dogs. Doing this, it seems they have no respect for just prevailing law - State or Federal Code - nor for owners of the dogs also abused by MIGLEY'S.
It's said that, backed by documentation, "The truth is an absolute defense", and that "truth" is what I firmly stand on as I try to get them to obey the law and give equal access to disabled people.
Management promoted and supported, seems that they hired a "black-suited - wannabe-cop-guard who did not qualify for police academy". As I've been told, "who for the price of coffee will tell lies about a disabled person's dog", based on a "vicious behavior dog" claim.
This is against Federal Code under the ADA (Disabled Americans Act). Against all State Law, County Regulations, and City and municipality ordinances...
Besides, some people just don't have any compassion for the handycapped.

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
